LANGEVIAX PROCEDURE GUIDE

Injectables / LANGEVIAX

If a line deepens with frowning or smiling, reducing muscle activity may help. Treatment choice depends on movement, eyelid and brow anatomy, and your own goal.

Muscle activity, rather than volume

Botulinum toxin type A temporarily reduces nerve signalling to a targeted muscle. This can soften expression lines, while hollowness, pigment and excess skin have different causes. Preparations have product-specific potency units that consumers cannot equate or convert. A price per “unit” is therefore not a meaningful comparison without identifying the preparation and treatment goal.

What counts as a useful result?

A useful goal might be a softer frown line with an acceptable amount of movement. Matched photographs at rest and during expression are more informative than selfies under changing light. Cochrane evidence mainly concerns glabellar lines; success there does not establish removal of every wrinkle or the need for preventive injections in everyone.

What changes suitability?

Discuss neuromuscular disease, swallowing or breathing problems, previous eyelid weakness or drooping, allergies and earlier treatments. Pregnancy, pregnancy plans and breastfeeding also need an explicit discussion. Infection or inflammation at a proposed treatment site must be assessed first. A questionnaire or photograph cannot replace examination and medication review.

Prepare for the consultation

Bring prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, supplements and the date of your last injections; do not stop prescribed treatment yourself. Ask for the exact preparation, its Canadian authorization and the clinician responsible for follow-up. Clarify the full cost, review timing and response to asymmetry before purchasing a package. Choosing no procedure remains a reasonable option.

The result develops over days

The same-day appearance is not the final result; effects generally begin over several days and are temporary. Small bruises or tenderness can occur. Agree on a suitable assessment and review date, rather than rushing an early correction. Follow the clinic’s written instructions for exercise, touching the area and other procedures instead of borrowing another person’s schedule.

Simple supportive skin care

For intact, dry skin, discuss a gentle cleanser and fragrance-free moisturizer; no cosmetic serum activates the injection or guarantees longer duration. Avoid massaging or forcefully rubbing the treated area. If a product stings or the skin is irritated, seek advice before adding acids, retinoids or new products. Makeup and routine-care timing should reflect the condition of the treatment sites.

When waiting is unsafe

Breathing, swallowing or speech difficulty, or generalized weakness after injection, needs immediate medical assessment; call 911 for breathing trouble or severe symptoms. Report new eyelid drooping, double vision or painful eye dryness promptly. Expanding redness, warmth, drainage or fever should not be dismissed as “detoxification” or an automatically normal reaction.

Frequently asked questions

Will facial sensation disappear?

The intended action reduces muscle contraction rather than numbing facial sensation. Persistent numbness or an unexpected change should be reported for assessment.

Will a line visible at rest disappear?

It may soften, but line depth, sun damage and tissue changes can limit the response. Ask what is achievable and whether another option better fits the concern.

Why might two clinics quote different unit counts?

Preparations, muscle assessment and goals differ. Units across preparations are not directly comparable; compare the complete plan and total cost.
