LANGEVIAX PROCEDURE GUIDE

Hair & scalp / LANGEVIAX

Low-level light may be considered for some people with pattern hair loss. Buying before diagnosis, or choosing by the number of lights, does not establish a sound treatment choice.

Photobiomodulation rather than hair destruction

These devices use low-level light, often red, to influence follicular activity. They differ from hair-removal lasers designed to thermally damage follicles; UV exposure or tanning is not an alternative. The exact mechanism and optimal optical parameters remain uncertain. “Laser” or “LED” alone does not establish benefit size, an appropriate exposure or superiority of one model.

Evidence belongs to a specific device

A 2025 trial with 160 randomized participants illustrates an interpretation problem: the primary outcome was not significant in the individual active arms, but pooled active arms differed from sham. Many participants were excluded from the per-protocol analysis. This is not a guarantee or validation of every device. Ask about comparison groups and analysis of all randomized participants.

Establish the diagnosis before purchasing

Hereditary-loss evidence does not establish treatment of fungal infection, alopecia areata, traction loss or inflammatory scarring. Pain, burning, heavy scale, pus and patchy loss require assessment. Review photosensitivity, relevant disease and medicines against the device instructions with a clinician. A suspicious scalp lesion is another reason to obtain an examination before beginning home light exposure.

How to compare devices

Check the exact model, applicable Canadian authorization, instructions, eye precautions and servicing arrangements. “FDA-cleared” is not Canadian authorization or proof of superiority to medication. Request the device study, its population and follow-up duration. Price, regular-use practicality and return terms also matter. More diodes alone do not establish more hair growth or make two devices clinically equivalent.

More exposure is not necessarily better

Follow the particular model’s instructions; do not independently increase exposure to compensate for missed sessions. Maintain a clean, undamaged device and follow its eye-safety requirements. Photograph the same parting under consistent light. Agree on a review date and continuation criteria before purchasing. Any hair response is assessed over months, not from warmth during a session or immediate scalp sensations.

An obligatory serum is not established

A universal need for an “activating” serum alongside light alone is not established. Match gentle washing and hair-shaft care to your hair, and use accompanying products only as compatible with the device instructions. Discuss coordination with existing hair-loss medication rather than replacing it yourself. Persistent scalp dryness or inflammation needs its own diagnosis, rather than a more expensive light programme.

Recognize a device or skin problem

Do not push through painful burning, blistering, a burn, clearly worsening inflammation or persistent headache; stop use and seek advice about the device and your skin. Eye pain or visual change needs urgent assessment. Rapid loss with pain, pus or disappearing follicular openings should not be dismissed as a routine “initial shed”; delaying treatment of the underlying disorder can matter.

Frequently asked questions

Does light replace minoxidil?

The choice depends on diagnosis, tolerance, risk and the particular device evidence. These studies do not establish universal superiority or a need to stop medication.

Is a more expensive device necessarily more effective?

No. Price, light count and promotional claims do not replace relevant clinical research and measurable outcomes.

What result should I expect?

Density or perceived fullness may improve, but universal response and regrowth in destroyed, scarred follicles are not established. Define your goal and review timing.

Sources and context

Canadian sources take priority for regulatory context. FDA or other foreign information does not establish Canadian authorization for a product or use. A source-check date is distinct from publication date or independent clinical approval.
