LANGEVIAX PROCEDURE GUIDE

Laser, light & energy / LANGEVIAX

Vascular laser or light can target defined superficial vessels, but not all redness is vascular. Rosacea, inflammation and eye symptoms need assessment before choosing a machine.

The target is haemoglobin, not every cause of redness

Devices such as pulsed dye laser and selected other lasers heat blood within targeted vessels; IPL is filtered light rather than a laser. Treating visible vessels differs from treating thickened nasal skin or rosacea papules. Device choice must match the vessel type and depth. A photofacial label alone is not enough information for an informed decision.

Vessels, flushing and bumps are different outcomes

Defined visible vessels are a different and often more predictable target than all diffuse redness or flushing. Rosacea may also need skin care, trigger management and appropriate medication; light treatment is not a cure. In darker skin, redness can be less visible and selection requires experience. Report burning eyes, dryness or light sensitivity; facial vessel treatment does not resolve ocular disease.

Consultation and preparation

Ask the provider to identify the vessel target or diagnosis and explain whether a test area is appropriate. Report tanning, medicines, cold sores, previous pigment changes and healing problems; do not stop medicines independently. Device-appropriate eye protection is essential; closing the eyelids alone is insufficient. Ask whether visible bruising is expected so work, photographs or events can be planned realistically.

Bruising can be part of the chosen approach

Transient redness, swelling and tenderness can occur. Some pulsed dye laser approaches produce obvious purple bruising that may last one to two weeks or longer; other approaches differ. New vessels can appear over time. Sessions need enough separation for healing and response assessment. A session count quoted in a leaflet or advertisement is not an individual treatment prescription.

Soothe without adding irritation

For intact skin when permitted, gentle cleanser, fragrance-free moisturizer and broad-spectrum sunscreen provide a useful foundation. If sunscreen stings, ask about a tolerated mineral formulation; a natural essential oil is not automatically safe. Avoid rubbing, scrubbing and adding acids or retinoids to irritated skin. Blisters or an open surface need wound instructions; an anti-redness cream cannot substitute for burn assessment.

When redness needs review

Report increasing redness or pain, spreading heat, discharge, fever, blisters or ulceration promptly. Persistent light or dark patches need follow-up too. Eye pain, marked light sensitivity or reduced vision should not be dismissed as skin irritation; reduced vision or severe eye pain requires urgent assessment. Do not self-prescribe a steroid for redness; it may mask infection or complicate rosacea.

Fair comparison and a measurable goal

For visible vessels, separate standardized target-area photographs from a general improvement in skin feel. Ask whether the goal is vessel reduction, persistent redness or flushing, and which features are unlikely to change. Rosacea skin care and medical treatment, cosmetic camouflage and no intervention are alternatives. Clarify course cost, possible maintenance, experience with similar skin and responsibility for complications before paying.

Frequently asked questions

Does IPL permanently cure rosacea?

No. Selected features may improve, but the condition and development of new vessels can continue.

Section sources: AAD · Laser and light treatment for rosacea

Does no bruising mean the treatment failed?

No. Devices and approaches differ. Assess the agreed outcome at follow-up rather than judging effectiveness by bruising intensity.

Does redness still matter in darker skin?

Yes. Inflammation may appear as burning, swelling or colour change and needs careful assessment for treatment selection.
