Laser, light & energy / LANGEVIAX
Nonablative fractional laser heats small tissue columns to encourage gradual remodelling. It removes less surface tissue than ablation, but this does not mean burns or pigment changes cannot occur.

What nonablative actually means
The aim is controlled tissue heating without removing the surface in the same way as an ablative laser. Fractional describes delivery in small columns, not one single technology. Wavelength and device design determine the tissue target. IPL is not a nonablative fractional laser; request the exact treatment name so comparisons of outcomes, cost and recovery are meaningful.

Selection by texture and skin characteristics
Selected depressed scars, uneven texture and fine lines may be targets; excess skin or deeply tethered scars may need another approach. Darker skin does not exclude every laser, but post-inflammatory darkening remains an important risk. Disclose melasma, pigment changes after injuries, keloids, infection and impaired healing before deciding. A photograph alone has limits for establishing scar type and suitability.

What to settle before treatment
The clinician should review medicines, supplements, isotretinoin, cold sores, tanning and recent procedures; timing is individualized and medicines should not be stopped independently. Ask about experience with your skin tone and whether a test area is appropriate. Device-appropriate eye protection is essential. Obtain written preparation, aftercare and complication contact details, rather than only a package session count.

Less downtime is different from no downtime
Warmth, redness or temporary darkening, swelling and roughness can occur. Some people resume daily activities quickly, but the actual device and treatment determine timing. Collagen and scar changes take time; an immediate after-photo confuses swelling with outcome. Consistent lighting and assessment after healing are more useful than filtered before-and-after comparisons or promises based on the first day.

Simple care for intact skin; wound instructions for injury
If the surface is intact and your clinician permits, gentle cleansing, fragrance-free moisturizer and broad-spectrum sunscreen can support a simple routine for dryness and sensitivity. Shade and covering also matter. Restart retinoids, acids, scrubs and makeup according to instructions and tolerance. Blisters, oozing or an open wound need a different pathway: contact the team for specific care rather than layering usual serums or creams.

Changes that need review
Report worsening pain, blisters, spreading redness, discharge, fever or healing outside the explained range promptly. New darkening may be post-inflammatory rather than persistence of the original concern; patchy lightening also needs review. Visual change or eye pain requires urgent assessment. Continuing treatment over irritated skin is not a way to compensate for slow results or meet a package deadline.

More combinations do not automatically mean more benefit
Compare ablative laser, conventional needling, scar-directed treatment and no procedure for your goal. A small 20-person trial found no significant advantage from alternating RF needling with laser versus laser alone. Evidence for one machine does not validate every machine. Ask about likely visits, total cost, pigment risk and a stopping point if improvement is insufficient to justify further treatment.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the best laser for melasma?
There is no such rule. Melasma needs diagnosis and a photoprotection and treatment plan, and may recur or worsen after procedures.

Will I need several sessions?
Often a course is considered, but the target, response and adverse effects determine the plan; one fixed number does not fit everyone.

Can darker skin be treated?
Sometimes, with individualized selection and an experienced provider; darkening or lightening risk is not eliminated.
