LANGEVIAX PROCEDURE GUIDE

Surgery / LANGEVIAX

A thread lift implants sutures for limited tissue repositioning and support. It avoids large incisions but still creates entry sites and carries complications; durability and results are not equivalent to a facelift.

How threads differ

Absorbable threads such as PDO and lactic-acid- or caprolactone-based polymers differ in material, structure and anchoring design. Supporting barbed threads are not interchangeable with smooth threads marketed for skin quality. Absorption time alone does not determine lifting duration. Material name or thread count does not establish superiority or cosmetic-use authorization.

Potential benefit and uncertain durability

Selected people may see immediate repositioning and appearance improvement, but swelling and healing affect assessment. A 2025 review of 12 studies reported early improvement while highlighting limited long-term evidence. A 151-person comparative trial in 2026 added data for specific threads and one indication; it does not establish permanent lifting or equivalence to surgery.

Are more threads better?

In a 22-person randomized trial in 2025, more threads did not improve sustained lifting or satisfaction, and early changes diminished by day 60. The sample was small and not representative of every product, but buying by thread count alone is not justified. Ask what visible goal is expected, when it will be assessed and what happens if benefit is limited.

Assessment and Canadian authorization

Health Canada's 2024 warning emphasizes threads authorized for cosmetic use and physician administration or supervision. Do not treat its historical product count as today's licence list; verify the exact current product. Discuss infection, unusual scarring, impaired healing, medicines, previous threads or fillers and expectations. Coordinate any medicine changes with the prescriber.

Recovery and follow-up

Swelling, bruising, tenderness and discomfort can occur. Some people feel socially presentable within days, while fuller healing takes weeks; this is not a universal promise. Obtain instructions for exercise, sleep, facial movement and pressure. Do not massage or pull the skin to correct asymmetry yourself; an in-person review may be needed.

Entry-site care and products

Obtain the team's cleansing and entry-site plan; do not start topical antibiotics or steroids yourself. Use any prescribed treatment as directed. After closure and clearance, gentle care and sun protection are appropriate. A lifting cream or new serum cannot correct displaced threads, infection or extrusion. Ask when makeup and active products can restart.

Complications and alternatives

Persistent pain, difficulty opening the mouth, visible or extruding thread, increasing swelling, pus, fever or concerning discoloration need prompt contact; do not cut or pull out a thread. Asymmetry and an unsatisfactory result are possible. Compare surgery for substantial excess skin and non-implant options or no procedure for mild laxity; another thread lift is not an automatic next step.

Frequently asked questions

Does absorbable mean risk-free?

No. Absorption does not exclude infection, extrusion, pain or poor results and does not establish authorization.

Section sources: ASPS · Thread lift risks · Health Canada · Use only threads authorized for cosmetic thread lifts (2024 warning)

Is absorption time the lifting duration?

Not necessarily. Tissue support, aging and product-specific evidence matter; ask about durability for the exact product and use.

Will buying more threads improve the result?

There is no guarantee. A small trial found no sustained advantage from more threads; indication and goals matter more than count.

Sources and context

Canadian sources take priority for regulatory context. FDA or other foreign information does not establish Canadian authorization for a product or use. A source-check date is distinct from publication date or independent clinical approval.
